Tram Stop to Pilgrim Church...
There has been major developmental work in The Meadows community and outside the Pilgrim Church with regard to the expansion of the new tram network linking Wilford and Clifton with the city centre of Nottingham. The new state of the art tram now stops outside the Pilgrim Church on Queens Walk called the Queens Walk Tram stop. This tram stop helps to identify the location of the Pilgrim Church at the Queens Walk stop. You can now hop off from the tram right into the Pilgrim Church.
Community liaison personnel Nick Cumming from construction company Taylor Woodrow Alstom, was able to share the following information:
“By July 2014 we will be heading into a couple of weeks of testing and commissioning the tram through Queens Walk, over the Wilford Toll Bridge and up to Coronation Avenue. This will be the first phase of testing and commissioning of the tram with completion date for early 2015. A lot of testing will be done over the next 6 months and we will be hoping to get members of the public on board by early 2015. You will be seeing many a tram coming up and down the line with people getting used to it and seeing how it operates. Members of the public will see how to behave around the new tram system”. An interesting piece of work running alongside the tram is the addition of Story Poles which have been carved out of the trees that used to line Queens Walk. These Story Poles will be placed strategically along the team line running through the Meadows. This is an initiative started by local resident. Each pole depicts an element of life in the area of the Meadows. One that is particularly striking is the Story Pole on Faith near the Pilgrim Church. Watch out for more details.”
