Chariots Of Joy

The name Chariots of Joy is taken from the bible when the chariot was used in ancient times to commute royalty or engage in battle. The choir has a vocation of spreading the good news of the gospel in song whenever we are called upon.

COJ love to keep to the traditions of gospel music. This means performing with our heart and soul both contemporary and traditional gospel songs with a focus on engaging with the audience, so that they are ‘blessed’ by the singing ministry experience.

The choir takes pride in supporting local community events such as concerts, weddings, festivals and civic events and has performed at events in the attendance of the Arch Bishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and civil rights campaigner Reverend Jesse Jackson. We have also performed with gospel singing legend, Darius Brooks from the Thompson Community gospel choir and performed at the Ashes Test Cricket Match at Trent Bridge Nottingham. Chariots of Joy have a busy schedule throughout the year supporting both local and national events.

In addition COJ has been involved in campaigns such as the Mothers against Guns, supported other charitable organisations such as Christian Aid, performed at the Nottingham Royal Concert Hall, The Nottingham Albert Hall, The Riverside Festival and many civic events. The choir had the privilege of performing at the official opening of the Nottingham Market Square and the commemorative service for the Abolition of the Slave Trade, held at St Peter’s Church, in Nottingham.
